Urgent appeal
Posted on
The latest email has been received from Jacqueline Peters (JP). This makes it quite obvious she will no longer cooperate with us. Bear in mind she volunteered to look after HoVAR dogs and knew that this was without payment. However, as you may know, we did pay Roy €450 so that he was able to assist her. It has always been HoVAR policy NOT to pay fosters; other than expenses involved in looking after the dogs. This decision was taken five years ago for two reasons
I. Because we can't afford it.
II. To ensure that people looking after our dogs were doing it for the right reasons and not being motivated by financial gain.
JP has advised us that we will now be charged €3 per day per dog by Barkinside Kennels (used to be HoVAR kennels). This will be back dated to 6 May when she resigned from the Committee. This means she is asking for us, to pay her, approximately €1800 per month . (Our shop currently raises an average of €1500 per month from which €500 is deduced for rent and electricity.) To keep and feed the dogs in kennels which HoVAR provided as a cost to HoVAR of at least €3500. (Money raised by you our supporters). Also personal donations from supporters and Committee amounting to almost €3000. Yet another of our generous supporters paid for workers and equipment.) Using equipment which HoVAR provided. Clearly we cannot and will not do this. We now have to find foster homes for approximately 20 dogs.
This is an appeal to the people of Hondon Valley and surrounding areas. Ask yourself if you can foster a dog until we are able to find it a home. The terms of fostering have been clearly set out in a previous post on the HoVAR Facebook page.
What will happen with future dogs has to be established. For the moment we have to concentrate on the 20 dogs we have to find alternative accommodation for. Please please consider helping. If 20 people adopted or fostered one dog we would solve the current problem.
This post is on our Facebook page because of the urgency of the situation. No comments will be allowed to remain on the Facebook page. However, the same post is displayed on our blog page website hondonvar.com . If you have any comments to make please make them only on the blog page.
Anyone who can assist please email [email protected] or by private message via Facebook or leave your details in the HoVAR shop and you will be contacted.
